MedTech One World Students at Global Health Day

Global Health is defined as “an area for study, research, and practice that places a priority on improving health and achieving equity in health for all people worldwide. Global health emphasises transnational health issues, determinants, and solutions; involves many disciplines within and beyond the health sciences and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration; and is a synthesis of population-based prevention with individual-level clinical care” (Kaplan JP etal. Lancet 2009, 373:1).

The Center for Global Health (CGH) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) was founded in 2017 and its objective is to create a  multidisciplinar teaching platform for Global Health bringing together TUM and external partners.

Last 7th December the CGH organized the Global Health Day in order to celebrate its official launch and engage in talks about the health challenges of today. The program showed the diversity of the challenges we face at a global level and highlighted the need to gather stakeholders from different backgrounds.

We are very thankful to the organization for giving us the chance to present a poster in this event. MedTech One World Students could talk with the guests about the current and future projects which are being developed in our group. We also could get a better and more global perspective of the complex health determinants and their interactions.

Furthermore, the research associate Fabian Jodeit from Institute of Medical and Polymer Engineering at TUM gave an interesting speech about International Medical Engineering, our student group and its parent institution MedTech One World .
